Blands Travel commits to working towards a Plastic Free Airport

Plastic is well recognised as being a major environmental hazard. Not only, a major constituent of litter both on land an in the sea, but it is also known to cause the death of marine life including seabirds, turtles, whales and dolphins.

Blands Travel has committed to reducing its use of plastic within The Calpe Lounge and are proud to have been awarded two certificates by the Nautilus Project, who are leading Gibraltar’s movement on environmental initiatives. The #PawsOffStraws and #CutTheCutlery certificates proudly celebrate that we have removed all plastic straws and cutlery from the Airport Lounge at Gibraltar International Airport. Straws and Cutlery, along with beverages will now all be plastic free alternatives.

Blands Travel’s Head of Destination Services, Nuria Saccone said, our commitment to this initiative is a strong signal that we are playing a part in eliminating plastic waste and making collective progress against this global challenge.

In addition, Blands Travel has also been congratulated on joining other companies by providing a refilling station at its office in Gibraltar. This facility now means that reusable bottles can be filled with water at our offices in Cloister Building.
