Gibair takes part in UK Air Accident Investigation workshop

On the 8^th and 9^th October, 3 Gibair staff (Derek Goldwin, Daniel Acris and Dwight Falzun) attended a workshop organised by the UK Air Accident Investigation Branch. This workshop was also attended by other Gibraltar Airport Agencies as well as all of Gibraltar's Emergency Services.

Over 50 personnel were in attendance over the 2 days. The object of the workshop was to familiarise the different agencies with the immediate post 48 hour requirements of any accident or incident at Gibraltar Airport or its vicinity. During the workshop a wide range of topics were reviewed and there were also some accident simulation exercises with different case scenarios in which all personnel took part. Subjects covered included accident reporting, logistics, evidence gathering and preservation, airline liaison and media response. Overall a very interesting and useful course which ensures personnel are fully familiarised in what is required in the immediate aftermath of an accident one ever occur at Gibraltar International Airport (GIA).
