Hovertravel helps recruit tourism ambassadors

Hovertravel has hosted the first wave of new Visit Isle of Wight Travel Ambassadors to start their induction and provide more information about their role.

Loretta Lale, head of commercial at Hovertravel, explains: “We are working closely with the team at Visit Isle of Wight to encourage and support Travel Ambassadors.  Based at the Southsea Hovertravel terminal, the volunteers will be meeting and greeting visitors and telling them all about the things to do and see on the Isle of Wight. We hope that by providing marketing materials packed with ideas these visitors will be inspired to keep coming back for more.”

The ambassadors met Martyn Percival, Hovertravel’s head of ground operations, Hovertravel pilot, Peter Mulhern and Hovertravel team leader, Kerry Wherry.  The Visit Isle of Wight team was also available and answered several questions, explaining that there was no need for specialist training, the hours were at each volunteer’s discretion and the only qualifications were an enthusiastic and positive approach to promoting the Isle of Wight as the perfect place for a holiday or short break.

You can still apply to become a Travel Ambassador by emailing nicola@visitwight.org
